Advancing causes of immigrants and marginalized groups through access to legal assistance, education and employment resources
Our core mission is to advance the causes of and assist noncitizens like you with immigration legal matters. Southern Center for Equity Advancement and Immigrant Refuge is a Department of Justice (DOJ) recognized organization authorized to provide immigration legal services through the organization's DOJ accredited representative. We can directly assist you with immigration legal matters before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Contact us at support@sceair.org if you need immigration legal assistance or for more information.
Our goal is also to assist immigrants or green card holders with citizenship interview, so we offer English language and civics lessons for the citizenship test.
Navigating immigration legal matters could be enduring and costly. There is shortage of immigration attorneys and legal representatives to support the vast number of people needing help with immigration legal matters, so there is fraud such as notarios not authorized to practice law. Only attorneys and DOJ accredited representatives within DOJ recognized organizations are authorized to provide immigration legal services. Our nonprofit is a DOJ recognized organization, so we can assist you with your immigration legal matters before the USCIS/DHS for nominal or low cost fees. If your immigration matter is before the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) or in immigration court, we can not directly assist you before the court. But we can do an intake and gather the documents you provide, and forward them to larger law firms or other DOJ recognized organizations to see if they can assist you in immigration court.
Attorneys and accredited representatives that volunteer or work for this organization provide immigration legal services with a wide range of humanitarian immigration matters. Pro bono attorneys and DOJ accredited representatives carefully examine the cases after intake to determine the best possible outcome. Immigration matters they assist with range from asylum, withholding of removal, temporary protected status (TPS), adjustment of status or green card, employment authorization document (EAD) card, travel document, waivers of inadmissibility, and others like family petitions, and citizenship and naturalization.
Our team at Southern Center for Equity Advancement and Immigrant Refuge and pro bono attorneys and DOJ accredited representatives are here to support and advocate for you in your immigration journey.
Southern Center for Equity Advancement and Immigrant Refuge is a 501(c)(3) federally tax-exempt entity. ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
Our organization is an Alabama corporation and is one of the few DOJ recognized organizations in the south providing assistance with immigration legal matters or connecting with immigration attorneys and other DOJ accredited representatives that can guide through the complexities of immigration. We also provide classes to help prepare for the citizenship test. Contact us for assistance with immigration legal services or with English language and civics (U.S. history and government) classes.
